USAF Falcon Stadium – Soaring High the the Mighty USAF Eagles

“Sitting at 6,621 feet above sea level, the thin air has been kind to the Falcons. Falcon Stadium’s elevation is the second highest of any Division I-A stadium in the nation. The stadium’s current capacity is 39,441. Falcon Stadium, built in a natural bowl in the foothills, was built in the fall of 1962 at a cost of $3.5 million. Falcon Stadium opened on Sept. 22, 1962. The stadium was originally built solely for football, but several non-athletic events, such as the Academy’s annual graduation, are conducted there. The scenic backdrop, the game-day experience and the recent upgrades have ensured that Falcon Stadium is among the best venues in all of college football.”

In keeping up with the times and always striving to embody their motto of “Integrity First, Service before self, Excellence in all we do” the USAF moved forward with plans for a modernization and expansion of their beloved Falcon stadium. While Orion Environmenntal’s part in this project may never been seen by the tens of thousands of adoring fans, we are proud to have been a part of this project. With our work including Asbestos Abatement and demo including carpet removal and interior and concrete demo we were able to roll this project out in November of 2022 focusing on three phases of work located on the 2nd and 3rd floors in the VIP Suite. We wrapped up the project in December of 2022 with Interior Demolition including sof/selective demolition and concrete demolition.

“The Falcon Stadium modernization will be the largest athletic investment in the history of the Air Force Academy. When completed, the rejuvenated facility will be a world-class event venue and a more popular destination for events year-round. When completed, the stadium will pay homage to its heritage and Academy heritage while offering experiences befitting a 21st-century event venue.”
